What do you see as the future of newsjacking specifically and real-time marketing generally?
More people doing it, and less quality. Which is an opportunity for brands/creatives who do it right.
I definitely see more companies trying it, as more types of companies get "social." That will, of course, be both good and bad. Plenty of fodder for outraged blogging.
More self-created events that provide opportunities to newsjack. Again, it's traditional PR with a twist.
We also could see brands trying to create their own news instead, and owning it. Kind of like the Red Bull example (and hopefully not like the movie "Network.")
I think that the future of newsjacking & real-time marketing is that the practice will only grow. With more people constantly connected to brands through their phones, tablets, other devices, brands have the ability to reach their audience at almost any time.
And us outraged bloggers need more fodder.
I dunno, I could use happy stuff to write about too, other wise I'm gonna need a new set of friends ;)
Doug - you expressed my thought but far more eloquently. Thank you.
And that's a wrap -- thanks very much to our esteemed panel of guests and thanks to those of you who joined us in the audience. Stay tuned for more chats (and go USA)!
Thanks for having us Stephen (and Scribble). It's been a treat!
Thanks! Off to watch USA and Germany hopefully not sit on the ball for 90 minutes (Google "Il biscotti")
Thanks, this was so much fun!
Thanks all- great chat, and glad to be a part of it- especially, thanks to all who watched and interacted. More discussions to be had on this, I am sure.
